Special Projects undertaken

Atal Incubation Center Establishment

Successfully established the Atal Incubation Center (AIC) at NITTTE with financial support of ₹10 crores from NITI Aayog under the Atal Innovation Mission. AIC Nitte has facilitated the growth of 150 startups across three cohorts, including 29 women-led initiatives and four startups founded by faculty members of the Nitte Education Group. The startups incubated at AIC Nitte have created 216 jobs and provided internships for 163 students. The incubation period lasts for 11 months, during which various support services are offered to the startups. AIC Nitte has received an initial instalment of ₹4 crores for seed funding, which has been disbursed to nine startups in accordance with the Startup India Seed Fund Scheme.

Startup India Seed fund Scheme

Played a pivotal role in securing the Startup India Seed Fund of ₹4 crore, facilitating the growth of 20 innovative startups. This involved identifying promising startups, guiding them through the application process, and ensuring that funds were disbursed efficiently. The successful allocation of these funds has significantly contributed to fostering entrepreneurship and innovation in the startup ecosystem.

Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) Formation and Incubation

Played a significant role in the empanelment of AIC NITTE as a Cluster-Based Business Organization (CBBO) with the Watershed Development Department, Government of Karnataka. This initiative focuses on the formation and incubation of 10 Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), each comprising 1,000 farmer shareholders. AIC Nitte has secured a grant of ₹25 million to incubate and support these FPOs over a three-year period. In the past two years, AIC Nitte has successfully promoted and incubated 10 FPOs— four in Udupi district, three in Chikkaballapura, and one each in Mangalore and Kodagu.

Jackfruit Cluster Implementation

Provided leadership to the AIC Nitte Incubation Centre, designated by the Ministry of MSME as a Technical Agency for promoting food processing clusters in the coastal region of Karnataka. The detailed project report prepared by AIC Nitte for establishing a Jackfruit cluster was approved by the Ministry of MSME, which sanctioned ₹5 crores for the project. AIC Nitte offers technical consultancy for this initiative, which is being implemented by Suphala Farmer Producer Company in collaboration with SIRI Dharmastala. This Jackfruit cluster is projected to create employment opportunities for approximately 1,000 rural women and increase the income of around 400,000 farmers.
